What cookies are

The cookies we use

• Staying signed in (essential): if you're a member, we use one essential cookie to keep you logged in to your dashboard. Sign-in won't work without it.
• Analytics and performance (optional): we use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to see how our pages perform and make them better — which pages are visited, which links and buttons get clicked, general region, and device type. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to do this. We use it for measurement only: we don't send it your name or email, and Google's advertising, cross-site, and ads-personalization features are switched off.
• Payments and security: on secure checkout pages, our payment processor may set its own cookies to process your payment and help prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy.

What we don't do

We don't use cookies to build advertising profiles, follow you around the web, or sell your information. Effort is romantic; surveillance isn't.

We ask first. Analytics cookies don't load at all for visitors in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom unless you agree to them: when you arrive, a bar at the bottom of the page asks, and nothing is loaded until you answer. Choosing "No thanks" means no analytics cookies are set and no analytics scripts are loaded — the site works exactly the same, and we simply don't count the visit.

To make that choice we need to know roughly where you are, so our server records only a coarse "EU or not" marker for your browser. It doesn't store your country, your IP address, or anything that identifies you.

Changed your mind? Clearing cookies for this site through your browser settings resets the question, and we'll ask again on your next visit. We'll also ask again roughly every six months.
