Our First Date Night Giveaway: Two Couples, Two Nights, Zero Generic Ideas

A couple playing a neon-lit dance arcade game together on a planned date night

A little while back we ran our first giveaway: fully planned date nights, on us. The winning couples filled out the same questionnaire our members do, we built each of them a night from scratch, and then we did the part we care about most — we turned the night into a keepsake they get to keep forever.

We didn't do this just to be nice (though it was fun). We did it because a plan on paper is a theory. A plan on a Tuesday night with a canceled sitter and a line at the restaurant is the real test.

What the winners actually got

Not a gift card. Not a list of "10 date ideas near you." Each couple got a complete itinerary built around their answers: where to go and when, what it would cost before they committed, the little touches that only make sense for the two of them, and a backup in case the night had other ideas.

Each date also came with keepsake moments planted inside it — a question to ask over dinner, a few seconds of video worth taking on the walk. Afterward, the couples sent us their photos and voice notes, and we pasted the night into a scrapbook page they can open any time: their pictures, their captions, the questions they answered while the night was still happening.

What we learned

The nights that landed hardest weren't the most expensive ones. They were the most specific ones. An arcade dance battle means nothing to one couple and everything to another — the questionnaire is where that difference lives, and the plan is where it shows up.

And the scrapbook changed how the night felt in hindsight. A great date usually evaporates by the following weekend. A kept one doesn't. That's the whole idea behind our Date Night membership: three planned dates a month, and the night worth keeping becomes something you can hold onto.

To our winners: thank you for trusting us with your evening. To everyone else: the questionnaire is short, the dates are yours to keep, and the founding-member rate is locked for life. Effort is romantic.
